DUCA ‘grill-a-Tory’ BBQ a resounding success

Earlier on Saturday the latest event from Durham University Conservative association was held with excellent results. The free BBQ, open to the public and dubbed ‘grill a Tory’ was part of a well devised action plan to increase already booming membership at DUCA. Anyone was advised to come along on Saturday afternoon for a bite to eat and a chance to meet the DUCA team, as well as chew over whatever political issues they fancied in a laid-back and friendly atmosphere.

The event was hosted all day with a constant flow of students curious about DUCA and the Conservative party’s policies, and is definitely solid proof that Conservative party members are always committed and dedicated to standing for their cause and helping the local community. DUCA has so far hosted a wide range of events to help it’s members and the public and says it plans to ‘soon get avidly involved in local campaigning’ -presumably helping local PCC candidate Nick Varley.

DUCA’s political officer, Jonathan Duell said:

“The DUCA Team has been delighted by the enthusiastic response towards our recent Welcome BBQ: ‘Grill-a-Tory’ – a new initiative designed to bring all-too-often secluded politics back down to earth where it belongs. Around 100 people dropped by across the course of a beautiful Saturday afternoon, grabbing a bite to eat and seizing the fresh opportunity to chew over their favourite policy arguments in a laid-back and friendly atmosphere.

‘Grill-a-Tory’ is the first in our series of introductory events this Freshers’ Season, with many more events close on the horizon such as new ‘Pint & Policy’ this Thursday, and Police and Crime Commissioner election campaigning this Saturday.

Slimming down operations given the unfavourable national atmosphere is exactly what our counterparts in the Labour Party expect us to do, and exactly the opposite of what we have done and will continue to press forward doing.”

DUCA sources have said they plan to continue public events such as these and are now commencing work for local election campaigns.
