The Olympics Come to Surrey
Today Surrey was the host county for the London 2012 Olympic Cycle Road Race. Although the result was disappointing for Team GB, the event was a spectacle to behold.
I live between Leatherhead and Mickleham, part of the Box Hill circuit that the male cyclists completed a staggering 9 times. The atmosphere was great and the weather was perfect. The sides of the A24 were packed with spectators who had come to see one of the few free Olympic events.
I’m now looking forward to the women’s race tomorrow, although I’ll only see the cyclists twice as the women complete only 2 ascents of Box Hill.
