Prime Minister David Cameron addresses the Conservative Party Spring Forum on March 3, 2012 in London, England.

Last Saturday Conservative members and activists came together, this time in London, to attend the spring conference 2012. Party members from across the country gathered at The Grand at Trafalgar Square for a day of political activities.

I was very glad to see many CF representatives at the event. It is absolutely remarkable to see how Conservative Future has become a respected organisation over the past couple of years. The meeting gave us a great opportunity to meet senior members of the voluntary party from around the country.

The conference began with a speech from the Prime Minister. He talked about different issues that we are facing in the country at the moment, including Education and the NHS reforms. In his speech, once again he reassured the public by saying that “the NHS is in the party’s DNA and that’s not going to change”. We also saw speeches from William Hague and Boris Johnson – who as usual added an extra positive vibe to the meeting.

After the first session I got the opportunity to have a little chat with Sayeeda Warsi, the chairman of the party, where we discussed issues regarding Conservative Future.

The next item on the agenda was the National Convention AGM. Candidates made some great speeches before the election, then members of the party

voted and elected their new officers. Emma Pidding was elected (unopposed) as the new chairman; Paul Swaddle the new president; Rob Semple, Charles Heslop and Steve Bell the three new vice-presidents. I was personally very happy with the results and the new team as they all are strong supporters of CF.

Later on in the day we attended a policy forum meeting, where we discussed different issues on government policies. We also had the opportunity to find out more about how we can get more involved with the Conservative Policy Forum. Conservative Future now has it’s own policy forum (CFPF), where members can take part and discuss current and future policies.

This years Spring Forum was extremely successful and I was very glad to be able to attend it. In less than a month we have our first Conservative Future Conference, where all under-30 members are invited to attend.
